Board with Walking

Professional & friendly services to delight your dog

MENU

Licensed for boarding by West Oxfordshire District Council
License number W/19/00532/ANIMAL

Whatever your boarding needs, Board with Walking can help! Whether regular day boarding, one off days, long weekends, holidays or long term home boarding, we can tailor our services to meet your needs. Your dog will be treated as part of our family, being looked after within our home alongside our own springer spaniel, Kenzo.

We will ensure that when you leave your dog with us you have complete peace of mind about their care. It's so important that your dog is happy when away from you, and that you can leave it knowing that it's in good hands. We're a family of dog lovers, and have only ever left our own dogs with people in whom we have total trust, and who we know treat our dog in the manner we appreciate.

We are members of the `Association of Dog Boarders`, giving you confidence in our experience and knowledge in providing exceptional levels of dog boarding. This is a not for profit, industry-specific organisation, run by experienced home-boarders - they know the job inside out, including the challenges of home boarding; they provide exceptional support and guidance to their members through extensive experience and knowledge.

Prior to boarding with us we'll arrange a time to meet you and your dog, ensure that our dogs get on with each other, show you where your dog will be staying, and glean as much information about your dog as we can. This enables us to tailor our care to match yours and your dog’s needs and desires, giving you the confidence that your dog will have a fantastic time with us.

As far as we're concerned, dog walking is an integral part of dog care - so you can rest assured that during your dog’s stay with us they'll be well exercised in the local countryside. Unless specified otherwise, all of our boarding dogs get at least 1.5 hours walking each day, normally spread over two walks.

For the benefit of all our visiting dogs, we ask for proof of up-to-date vaccinations (any course of vaccination must have been completed at least four weeks before the first date of boarding), and an assurance of recent flea and worming treatments within a month of boarding.

Contact Us

Overnight

For your dog’s own comfort, please bring their favourite bed, food bowl and lead. When we meet we can agree mutually convenient times to drop off and collect your dog. It is important that your dog is with us early enough in the day to settle into our environment and with the other resident dogs. Ideally this is from 8am, and definitely no later than 3pm.

Our environment

We are pleased to offer our own dog, and those we look after, a safe, secure and comfortable space. This is a family home and garden which we love to share with our boarders. We have installed artificial turf for the dogs to enjoy all year round, whether to play on or stretch their legs; indoors is a calm environment, where they can relax in comfort.

Day Boarding

Rather than leaving your dog at home on their own during the day you may like your dog to have doggy and human company, a good walk and managed access to the garden. We can offer regular day-boarding throughout the year and ad-hoc days during school terms; one-off days during school holidays can be requested no more than one week in advance.

Boarding availability

If you know the dates you need, please contact us using the email symbol below from the start date of your booking.

For a general enquiry, please contact us via our Contact Us page.

We update the calendar to reflect all recent secured bookings. The maximum number of day and home boarding at any one time is four dogs. If you require a longer stay, and you see that the calendar suggests there’s just one or two days already fully booked, please do still contact us and we can explore options with you.

Training

Graham training

We can reinforce the behaviour you normally expect of your dog, for example working on recall if you have said your dog is fine off-lead, or a routine you normally use before your dog can start eating. Whilst we have experience of training our own dogs and can quickly get the basics with our visiting dogs we are not qualified to call ourselves ‘dog trainers’. However, there are trainers available locally and if you wanted one to work with your dog whilst they are boarding with us then we are more than happy for the trainer to liaise with us. Please do let us know at the time of booking that this is your intention.

The small print

A 50% deposit is payable to secure overnight bookings (post a meet and greet). Returnable up to two months in advance. Remainder to be paid on arrival or prior to the stay.

For stays of five days or more we recommend giving at least three months’ notice as you are more likely to get the dates you require.

We will complete a form with your agreement to ensure we have captured all essential details to care for your dog whilst you are away. Download the form here

Please note that we are unable to board puppies less than six months old, bitches in season and that we can only board one intact male at a time.

We are licensed by West Oxfordshire District Council to operate home boarding for dogs which guarantees that we have been inspected and confirms that we meet their Animal Boarding Conditions - further details on the West Oxfordshire District Council website.

Our license is available here - Boarding License

Testimonials

“Dedicated, Passionate, Exciting!
Wendy has been walking Hailey weekly for 5 years. She provides a reliable and dedicated service and she is obviously passionate about her work as she always takes great care of Hailey and is committed to providing an excellent service. Hailey is always very excited to see Wendy and she loves going out in the van. She returns a happy and content dog I would thoroughly recommend Board with Walking`s services.”
Val, with Hailey the Labrador
“We live in Combe and have been so lucky to have found Wendy! She has been walking our bearded collie Evie for 18 months since she was a puppy. Wendy reliably walks Evie 4 days a week, at lunchtimes and is nearly always able to add in extra walks and weekend cover when needed. The service Wendy provides is wonderful - she is always on time, always reliable and efficient and very flexible to fit in with our needs. Most importantly Evie adores Wendy and has the best time a dog could ever have! From Wendy`s Facebook photos we can see her playing with the other dogs, swimming in local rivers, running through fields, going out in all weathers and being loved and cared for by Wendy. We trust Wendy and her family 100% and she is a lovely person to work with. Evie is always so happy after being with Wendy, and sleeps very well! Wendy has made a huge difference to our lives in that we can work away from home, go away at weekends and feel we are well supported if we have any dog walking needs.”
Jen, with Evie the bearded collie
“Wendy is a simply superb dog walker! She has been walking our dog three times a week for the past three years and has not once let us down. She is completely reliable, efficient and enthusiastic. She really loves dogs - and dogs really love her. Ours sits and waits by the front door on the days that Wendy comes! I can`t recommend her highly enough!”
Annie, with Betsy the cocker spaniel

Whilst you are gone - bicycle servicing and upcycled planters

If you're leaving your dog with us whilst you're on holiday, maybe you'd like to drop a bike off at the same time for servicing, or pick up a planter on your return? You can order a rustic, upcycled planter to be built to your preferred size whilst you're away.
